Background Checks: A Basic Necessity For Employment

For years I worked at a company which was famous for its quick employee turnover. And all those years I had strong opinions about what was wrong with the Human Resources Department, who had hired them. Then I went to work in HR and had to do the hiring myself.

It took me about two weeks to realize that background checks are a basic necessity for employment - and then the employee can still be a problem.

I watched as employees’ pre-employment screening results came back time and again reporting criminal backgrounds or other issues which disqualified them from working for us.

Although I moved on to another department and never solved the hiring problem, I never again had a bad word to say about HR.
