What disability insurance is designed to do
Disability insurance is designed to provide relief to workers who are unable to work because of an illness or an injury, where the injury could be suffered on or off the job. Disability insurance doesn’t cover 100 percent of a salary, since insurers want people to have an incentive to go back to work. Disability insurance can be purchased on either an individual or group basis, where group insurance is usually provided by your employer or purchased individually from an association.
