Allergic To Our Children? Yes, If Your Pets Are Your “Kids”
A pet is often like one of your children so if you’re allergies are affected because you brushed the dog or pet the cat, it can be hard to accept. A lot of people think it is the pet’s hair that causes allergy symptoms. However, it is actually the dander or dry skin flakes that come off the pet with the shedding hair. Urine from animals like gerbils, mice, rats and guinea pigs can also cause severe allergy problems. Even birds can cause allergic reactions in those sensitive to them. If you cannot see yourself removing your pet from your home, you should try to confine where they are allowed to go. Don’t let them into your bedroom, and keep them off the furniture. This will help some.
